How to Survive Graduate School

Grad school is hard, for all kinds of reasons.
It’s hard financially, since you’re probably making bupkis and racking up debt while watching all the other people your age earn real salaries and build up their retirement accounts.
It’s hard intellectually, since you’re learning an entirely new set of skills and diving much more deeply into your subject than you probably did before.
It’s hard emotionally, since you’re struggling to master things, stay on your timeline, juggle a crazy workload, switch on demand from being a teacher to being a student, and negotiate with your advisor and your department.
It’s hard interpersonally, since you might be experiencing competition from fellow students and confusion from people outside of academia.
While grad school can be an amazing experience, it’s not easy. But on this call, we’ll talk about ways to make it easier. We’ll cover topics like handling the workload, crafting a professional and disciplinary identity, dealing with difficult advisers and colleagues, and how to decide what to do about the job market.
So join me on Wednesday, April 7, to talk about how to make the process a little more sensible, a little more streamlined, and a lot more supported. Just sign up below!
Can’t make the call but want to hear what we talk about? Sign up anyway — I’ll send the recording out to everyone who signs up.
